Same experience as you. Thought I had a blown fork seal that would be covered under warranty so I bought Progressive Monotubes to drop in at that time only to find out is was neck grease. Paid $360 to put front suspension in and cleaned neck grease. After several weeks of cleaning decided to pump in red high pressure grease. I pumped pumped and pumped 2 tubes to make sure all that brown liquid grease was out. Had the red thick high pressure grease coming out everywhere. Took off the front fairing and cleaned it up. A few weeks later in 90+ degree heat no splatters. Happy but a few hours of cleaning to get it right.

Sure enough your right, and who would of guessed you could grease most of the bike from that on spot.

WOW that is real pain, that would surely make the pope cuss. Hope they bought the guy a new motor.

Same thing happened on my wife's 1K service on her SG. We told the service about it and they apologized and explained why it does that sometimes and recommended we specify they use the old "blue grease" at the next service. Will work just as well but won't run/streak like the new stuff.

I have the same problem on my 09 FLHTCU, and it looks like they used the BLUE grease in it. I just re greasad it with some high temp grease time will tell if it leaks out

One thing I've learned is all Dealers are NOT created equally. Don't let one bad experience make you gun shy. Yes, buying a service manual is a great tool, and work on what you feel comfortable with. My Dealer is good at turning wrenches and general service, but I won't let them touch the internals of my motor. I'll go to a builder for that. They have made it very clear to me that they are just "parts hangers". But they do very good work on general services and such and I trust them for that.

+1 That tech did his job. I would ask for him again. At least I know he went over the bike.

The blue grease is called for on Touring Models. As per service manual.
