Well after a wide glide, rk classic, heritage, ultra, and back to 08 rk classic, I decided to try the Road Glide. Went back and forth on the Custom vs. the RGU but my wife doesn't ride much and I loved that clean rear fender (like the Street glide). Went with the Sedona orange and dealer gave me great trade in and had already installed the blacked out collection which I thought gave it a great look. First impressions:
- Frame change was noticed albeit not alot over the 08. It did seem to be more "stable" and firmer but I didn't put it thru any major riding yet.
- I had the HD windsplitter shield put on- great for around town and short trips but since ordered a cee bailey ws that is a little taller and will fit me better.
- Also had the heritage bars put on- very nice addition and more comfortable for my riding (I'm 6 2")
- Dealer had already installed black header pipe shields and SE slipons with the Stage 1 SE air filter. It actually sounds pretty good and a nice rumble but not obnoxious. I'm in Louisiana and we had some 90 degree days and can say that I didn't really notice a ton of heat from the cat converter but there are no lower fairings so that helped. Hey, my 08 96 put out some heat too. I'll decide later about some power duals and additional slipons but that is significant more $ but I'll probably do it when some more cash frees up so that 103 can work.
- Like the 103 alot- lower end torque and moves the scoot along pretty nicely as is.
- Loved having my stereo back- dealer put hog tunes in for me as part of the deal and they rock (had some in my ultra). Thanks to you guys on forum, I even learned to burn a mp3 cd for the HK stereo and it worked!
Anyway, I was nervous leaving my beloved rk classic but didn't take long for me to like the RG Custom. Thanks for alot of good feedback from the forum members.
