I have about $600 I can put toward the bike. I currently have all stock except for a set of stock pipes I got from a 2011 SG CVO. I think they are screaming eagles. They suck. I can't hear them, people behind me can't hear them. A friend on a metric even laughed.
So. I can get a set of pipes for $600. But I don't have enough to do a PCV, or anything else. Reinhart says their pipes can go on without a retune. Is that the same for VH?
I really like VH Monster Oval Twin Slash looks. I want to do this right and one day get the PC-V and new air filter, new head pipes. But one thing at a time.
Fullsac makes a baffle that can replace the stock cvo baffle. The money saved could go toward an air cleaner and fuelpak, xieds, or fuelmoto pc unit if so desired. More sound, cooler temps, and more power....if so desired...
I would cut open the headpipe and remove the cat and reweld if it were me. Big help. The stock headpipe is good for 90/100+ hp & tq. Save some headpipe money too....
As long as you keep the header and CAT the bike will not sound good, but will stay rather quiet. Its not just the slip-ons, but the header as well to make it sound good.
I always do all of mine at the same time, pipes, fuel management system, and air cleaner. If all I had was 600.00, I'd keep saving my money until I could get whatever I wanted, and have it be done right.
All I can say is DO NOT go with Bassani! My 103 with Bassani sounded like crap. I recommend D&D Boarzilla hands down...Keep savin cause its gonna cost ya.
Unless you have to have the pipes you mentioned, FuelMoto has their dynotuned mufflers on sale for $259.00. You could probably get the PCV and add the air cleaner for just a little more than $600. I wanted the Monster Ovals but they more than I wanted to pay at the time for just pipes, so I ordered the FuelMoto slash ups you see in my sig with a PCV, SE air cleaner and headpipe for only $1100.00. The pipes were on sale for $259 and they do sound good and are good quality.
