I told the little woman the other day, if we go new or newer bike I am keeping this one as I really love the convertibility, we get another ride and it will be a full dress Ultra, for long soft rides.

I own a RK, but have rented new SG's when I fly and ride. The sporty handling, and the stripped slammed look of the SG make it a sharp looking, fun ride. I think if you do alot of 2 up touring the RK is a better choice. The longer shocks and passanger floorboards are a plus, and a backrest and luggage rack look more at home. Also, if you put a larger touring saddle on a SG it would ruin the hot rod look. IMO, when the weather gets warm, I love to ride without the windshield.

It's called a "King" for a reason.

i love my streetglide. the wind protection is far nicer to me than it is on a roadking, especially now that i have that wonderful 10" long ride shield with the flip at the top, that you, matt suggested. it's just right, and i'm also using the fork air baffle along with the side wings that are adjustable. to do it again if i had to, i'd set up my next harley the same way.

I agree If I could have only one it would be a RK. The SG is a sharp looking Hot Rod As it comes stock.

I guess I am the odd man out. I traded my 08' SG to go back to a RKC. Did not like the ride, even after putting on 13" RK shocks. Add to that all the extra crap I had to put on it to tame the wind coming up from the bottom of the fairing (fairing wings, higher lipped shield, fork baffle) and it just did not look the same. I also like not having a fairing on those hot days. Bottom line, the RKC is the bike that can do it all. By the way, I have gone across the country on my previous 2 RKC's and once on the SG, again I'll take the RKC. JMO

If I didn't have a RG, I would look to the RK...for exactly the reasons you mentioned, flexibility in having a windshield, a different windshield, or no windshield. You can make a RK look like a SG a lot easier than you can make a SG look like a RK...

I bought a Road King in 96 and switched to an EGC when the twin cam came out in 99.
5 fairing bikes later I have switched back to the Road King and absolutely love it.
I wonder why I ever bought the EGC's.

There are the usual comments that it's easier to see the gauges, wind protection and etc.

You have a detachable fairing - so you have a fairng when you want it. Get a tour pack and then you have the EGC-Ultra kit when you want it. When you don't want it you got your Road King back and that's something you can't do with an EGC-Ultra-SG setup.
