Just a tad over 13K on the rear tire on the roadglide for the 402. Could of gotten a little more but we were going on a trip. . I check the Psi before every ride and adj if I am 2 up or by my self. A couple of pounds of air makes a differance if you wear the center of the tire out. amd in Fl the roads are flat and most are in good shape.

Thanks for all the info guys. I must be doing something wrong to only be getting 9k out of the rear. I may give the E3 a shot since I know what the 402 will give me, and if the handling is as good as everyone says I have nothing to lose...

Ditto on the tire life. I have a 2005 UC and, though I run 2-up 40% of the time, I'm running through the rear tires on about 10k each. This was worse when I had the 402's.

With regard to ride and handling quality -- no comparison! E3's have been on the bike since my first full set change -- about 22k. I've just topped 50k and still love 'em. I've also gone to the 160/16 (trimmed the belt guard, and the tire is as big as I can go) and the ride quality is much better. Good in rain, too, as well as the tar snakes here in south Texas.

402's 6-8K

E3's 17k on the rear right now, needs a change now. Front looks new.

They ride mucho better on rain groves and tar snakes. Also rode over the Mackinac metal bridge twice and it handled like a dream. My friends on thier 402's looked like Shakara shaking thier booties compared to my straight and smooth E3's.

E3 EASY!

How much did you have to trim the belt guard? If I get the MU90HB16 it's a direct replacement- is it worth it to go with the 160-16 if I don't need extra carrying capacity? There's also a big jump in price between the MU & the 160...

I got only 10k each out of two D402 rear tires on my '07 SG, which I consider unsatisfactory. I went with the E3 and got 20k out of the first one, the second now with 9k and wearing about the same as the first. In the photo, the left tire is the one removed with 20k (1/32"), the right the tire presently on the bike with 9K (6/32"). I did get some cupping on the side after the tire compiled around 16k and it would drone a bit in corners. If you look closely you can see it in the photos.

Oddly, I only saw 18k out of my first E3 front, but that might be because I started using the front brake more to help out with the rear tire wear. I replaced it with another E3 and we'll see how the second tire wears. I see no downside to these tires. Handing is excellent in wet or dry; groove-tracking is much reduced compared to the D402, although this gradually increases as the tires wear; and they are cheaper.

Iclick- Thanks for the info & the pics. I'm getting 9k out of my rear 402's and you got 10, so it sounds like we drive similarly. If I could get 18-20k out of an E3 I'd be more than happy. What size are those in the pics?

EIII for sure ...great traction better durability, zero feel of the tar snakes....The EIII was as grippy as the Avon Venom X...or the Night Dragon ot the 402 or the commander or the EII...60000 miles and i haven't lost traction yet and been riding pretty hard in wet n dry interstate mountains of NC...

i think iclick was hypermileing on that first e3 i go around 10,000 on the 402 and looks like ill get around 12,000 out of my first e3,however even if the milage was the same i would still use the e3 handling is much improved, the 160 rear e3 is recomended for a 3 1/2 rim and stock rim is 3 inch.20,000 miles on 402 and never found my floorboard 2nd day out on e3 and i found em.
