Personally, I try to follow someone else's track and rarely ride in the center of the lane. Whether left or right of center depends on where my bailout lane is.
When I started this thread 7 Days ago, I expected it to be another cold boring thread for informational purposes for the ones that haven't been riding as long as some of us. You guys rock. There is alot of good information on here, but I got some good chuckles too. Thank you for not making it dry and boring. Thanks for all your insights. Maybe it will help someone.
OK, SEE IF YOU'ALL CAN MAKE IT CLEAR FOR ME. QUESTION IS, "WHAT LANE AM I IN ?" DO THE LANES START NUMBERED FROM LEFT AS #1 TO THE RIGHT TO #4, PLAY LIKE WE BE ON DIVIDED INTERSTATE AND 4 LANES IN EACH DIRECTION. I THINK THE FAR LEFT LANE AS THE #1 INSIDE LANE THUS THE FAR RIGHT LANE IS THE #4 OUTSIDE LANE. NOT TALKING ABOUT TIRE TRACKS OR OIL TRACE PATH WITHIN THE DRIVING/RIDING LANE. I STILL WANT TO RIDE IN THE OUTSIDE PORTION OF THE LANE I'M IN AND LIKE IT TO BE THE OUTSIDE LANE OR AS SOME CALL IT, "SLOW LANE." I DO USE THEM ALL AS TRAFFIC DICTATES BUT LIKE TO KEEP RIGHT UNLESS PASSING AND/OR SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT.
I tend to always ride to the inside of the lane no matter what when riding alone. I will ride close to center but will move over if car is coming. Have you noticed that most accidents are because someone crossing center line???? Now that isn't going to stop a car from hitting you if they completely cross...but sometimes they just aren't paying attention and could clip you....I'd rather play it safe and ride to inside
- Pot Holes
- Sand/salt piles (from winter maintenance)
- Various road kill including: squirrels, racoons, deer, bear, moose, possum, geese, skunks...
- Swarms of man eating mosquitos
- Purple Rain
- Snapping turtles or ducks crossing the roads
- Millions of night crawlers
- Oil drip slicks
- Slow moving "F'n" minivans or Buicks
- Or any of the various cast-off Brett Favre girlfriends!
i ride all over the lane..left,middle,right,back to the middle...sometimes i swerve back and forth just to amuse myself..dodging potholes, marks, and stuff on the street
That's what I do. Sometimes when I am approaching a redlight or stop sign I see how long I can go without putting my feet down... I know it isn't the smartest thing but it amuses me sometimes even if I look like a dork stabbing my boot down to stay upright.

Had to look this up in the Urban Dictionary....
