The American Flag always flies to the right, or to the center if flown alone. Myself and my patriot guard guys like to use 4ft. night stick cb antenna's. Mines attached to the right rear bar behind the tag. The antenna will hold a flag at any speed you need. I've personally had mine up to 80 with no troubles.(long story, don't ask.) To attach the flag to the antenna we use small clips hooks or zip ties. This works alot better than even the pricey flag holders . The pricey ones break alot. trust me, you don't want to be riding down the highway in formation when the guy's flag pole in front of you breaks off and bounces off your face.
I am putting flag holders on my ultra for Patriot Guard Rider missions. I recently viewed a thread on another forum where a guy manufactured a support mechanism for both flags for use at highway speeds. I like it and will attempt something similar for mine. Correct me if I am wrong, but my 26 years of military service taught me that, when in a flag holder, the American Flag is always placed at it's own right. I was further taught that the flag's own right is the viewer's left. If you are presenting the American Flag with another flag (organizational) they can be the same height. The organizational flag will be placed on the right side of the American Flag as seen by viewers. If you ride with this scenerio, the American Flag will be over the driver's left shoulder and the PGR flag over his/her right shoulder. Viewers would view the flags from the rear of the motorcyle. If I am correct, the thread I viewed on another forum shows the flags incorrectly placed. Do ya'll agree or disagree?
The American Flag is placed on it's "marching right". So if you are looking at your biek from the rear (i.e. looking in the direction of travel), the Flag should be on the right side of the bike.

Just like when a colorguard marches with flags in a parade the viewer is ahead of them and the American Flag is to the viewers left, over your right shoulder as you ride. AL Riders website has full info for those who want to check
