Looking at having cam work done to my ride. A few people have told me go with the 575's. Looking for some insight/opinions. I'm new at this whole cam thing and usually ride between 2500-3300 rpm. Thoughts???? Thanks.
I had them in my last bike - 103" BB. They hit hard and pull excellent only drawback is they don't come on until 2700-2800 rpm's - you could always add a +4 degree cam gear to advance the timing so they will come on earlier. I would highly recommend these cams - they're pricey - but I guess all the higher end cams are.
Sallyman how much more work would have to be done the 4 degree cam gear?
None really - a little bit more labor but it's all apart when the cams go in. I think if you install these you might look at your tach more than speedo, what I mean is keep your rpm's up and you'll love these cams!! If you add the +4 cam gear they'll come on 200-400 rpm's earlier.
If you want a set of milder cams that come on earlier I have a set of 255's very cheap. They won't pull like the 575's but still a good cam!

If you're already changing cams, there is zero additional labor. It's just a cam drive gear with a 4* offset that is installed in the place of the stock one. The cost difference is in the purchase of the gear.
If you're going into the cam chest just for the installation of the gear, it would take maybe an hour, depending on how long it takes you to get your exhaust out of the way of the cam chest cover.
I've got the Redshift 575's in my 96" with 2-1 exhaust and a gearing change (49T ring gear conversion) and true they come on later but highway riding is great when going to pass someone.
If you have a twin cam, and do most of your running in the 2500-3300 range, you should definitely check into Cycle-rama's CR-575's. I have them in my '08 heritage, and it completely transformed my bike! They are awesome for the type riding I do. I shift at about 3000 normally, and almost always by 3500 or so. The power off idle is amazing, and it pulls like a mule at extremely low RPMs. They do drop off pretty quickly into the high 3000's, on paper, but I never run there, even at Interstate speeds, with my six-speed, so for me it is absolutely the perfect set-up. www.cycle-rama.com.
