I just traded my '09 Softail Custom in on an '11 Ultra. It didn't some with the Security Package (ABS and the security system). I've had the system on other bikes (including the '09 softail).
Is it really worth the 300 bucks, or should I skip it altogether? Install is easy, except for taking it to the dealer for programming the fobs via Digital Technician. Has anyone ever had their bike saved from theft because of their security system?
I added it just for the peace of mind. That being said, if somebody REALLY wants your bike, (or mine) they'll get it. Still, any deterrent is better than none.
You will be able to go in a store or bar or wherever without having to fumble with the key. Just get off and walk away with the peace of mind that someone can't just get on and drive away. That was worth the $300 for me.
Now I just need to pop in the Radio Shack siren, and it's all done.
I jsut did the exact same thing last week. Did all the install Radio shack Siren and Password learn myself took to the Dealler and Same charge 42.50 to learn the fobs.
FYI Bought mine from Zanottis for $214 so well worth it.
And if the FOB fails you are not screwed! make sure you enter your own PIN# and know how to use it or carry the wallet card that is in the back of your owners manual that give you the step by step how-to's on the alarm.
