Hi Everyone, I just bought my First Harley!! no more Jap bikes!!!
I bought a 84 flhtc Electra Glide custom bagger. The motor has about 30k on it.
My issue is with the starter, Its like starting a tractor. Its really rough and sometime its gets stuck and i have to re try 2-4 times to get it to turn over, and when it finally does i got alittle smoke coming out of it. Once started the bike runs smooth.
I know its a first Gen Evo and id like to know what are my options and your experiences with it.
I see that i can get a hitachi replacement starter but wait i thought i was getting away from metric? I's the best route to get it rebuilt? Or swap out with a newer model ?
I would try a bit of Sea Foam to see if it can free up any sticky gummed up parts. It won't hurt and may cure the problem. I have a 09 UC and use Sea Foam to keep my injectors clean.
