I thought that only California bikes had a catalyst in the exhaust header. But recent forum posts lead me to believe that my east coast bike has one too. Can anybody verify that?

All 2010 and newer touring models have cats. Plenty of threads describing options for removing or replacing head pipes. The most popular remedy is remove the cat, install stage 1 air cleaner, mufflers, and tuner with a canned map from Fuel Moto. Noticable difference in heat, sound and mid/high range performance. I left the stock mufflers on and like the sound, so no change in mufflers for me.
