Around here we can choose between 87,89 and 93 octane. I always use the 93 premium. When traveling, I have run the risk of running out in order to find the 93 octane. I'll only put 89 in if premium is not avialable where I am. Price? What does it matter? You need the gas so you will pay what ever the price is that particular day. Can't understand these people that shop around for gas trying to save a penny or two. They just burned up their savings driving from station to station.

I am with the rest, the premium runs cooler, no engine ping or odd noise and good response for less than $2.00/tank is worth keeping. I will put 89 in the tank only if 91 to 93 not available or knowing the next gas is a ways off on trips, I also get better economy on 93 than 89 by almost 5mpg paying for the extra per gallon.

Going by what I've read, premium's only advantage is for anti-detonation. I don't think it should make any difference in milage or operating temperature. But, I could be wrong. Any experts around?

I don't know how my bike runs on regular, and I never will. My Harley is worth the extra buck fitty per fill up.

It's .20 cents difference between regular and Premium. Usually when I stop to fill up it's about 3.5 gallons. That's a .70 cent difference in the price of a fill-up. Not worth worrying about to me. If it was an F350 with dual 30 gallon tanks maybe I'd freak over .20 cents a gallon, but not with the bike.

91 or higher (prefer 93)...only time I've run 87 is when there's no other option.

I run regular, as I don't get any pinging (Stage 1)
I tried 93 one time, but I had too much power....

I've only used premium a couple of times. Didn't notice any difference. 51,000 of mostly 87 octane. No problems.

Here in Sweden we have 95 and 98 octane fuel. I always fill my Harley's with the 98. But on the other hand we pays around $ 8,50 per gallon.
