I see mods as a form of art and self expression. I also see the mod rants as a learning tool and sort of a "don't let this happen to you". From there I make my decision as to whether it's really that important to do and risk the "potential" problems others have run into.

I'm glad we have the internet to learn from others and others mistakes and I don't mind the rants at all. If its just too much, I don't read it any further, thats all. It's my choice.

Ride on!!

If its done right and maintenance is kept up properly, you should not need to be wrenching constantly. However my addiction makes me wrench all the time. Priceless look on the wife's face is when you bring a brand new 20k bike home and tear it down and have parts all over the garage.

I used to ride with a bunch of guys who were constantly doing chit to their bikes and motors. I rode with them on my stock bike. Wasnt always easy keeping up with them, especially the NOS-equipped ones. The thing I noticed was that there was usually always someone missing from the ride 'cause their bike was home broke down over something......not me,,,and I never had to have a trailer come get me either. Like they say, "Gotta pay if you wanna play."

Like others have mentioned, maintenance will help. But you're correct; double the HP in a bike and you'll find out the weakest link in the chain quickly.

you don't have a clue , I've modified every Harley I've owned (over 25 years) and they are as dependable as your stocker , therefore no need to complain

Why should I expect other issues, because MOCO set the bike up for a standard 96 cu in, not as a performance bike or a racer. So having said that I am in the pro-modification camp, their seem to be a lot of folks who pay for their modifications and then are upset when they have to keep going back to the stealer or something breaks on them. Shouldn't these folks learn to expect issues once you have altered your bike.

The reality is that is part of the fun of the modification, it allows you to learn your bike better than anyone else. But it appears folks want things done quick and with no headaches so they can throw their weekend leathers and full-face helmets on and just ride with their new 120R (on the nice days of course).

Sorry for the vent, but if you are gonna modify it expect to become intimate with fixing it

+1 on this. I'll put my S&S against a stocker anyday on reliability - then again if I chugged around @ 1500 rpm all the time mine would last forever too....
