Default Problem With My 2010 SG

Left for work this morning and was about a mile from the house when my engine light came on and I had no throtle. Tried shuting it down and restarting but no luck but was able to idle it the house. Any body else have this happen?

Sounds like you went into limp mode. You need to do a diagnostic code search and see what code your bike through. There is a procedure on this board on how to run a search. You may be able to reset or at the least find out what threw the code

Sounds like what my 08 did. "Fly by wire" throttle position sensor trouble. Funny cable in my 07 and previous years NEVER gave trouble. Cycling ignition switch on and off four times with handlebar in "RUN" cleared the code on mine.

I had this problem on my road king, the plug behind the AC was loose. There are many posts about the limp mode, as someone else said, could be the throttle position sensor.

Probably bad TPS (throttle position sensor) - time to visit dealer for warranty repair.

I see in this thread, the prevailing opinion is "throttle position sensor". In the thread from a a week or so ago the prevailing opinion was "ECM connector pins". with basically the same problem being described.

Update!! Took it to the dealer and they replaced the pins. I asked if this will happen again and was told that they have changed the design and have not had any more problems after the repair. Lets hope so!
