Default HD pull back touring bars

So i've decided to go with the 56176-08 pullback touring bars on my ABS equipped 2011 Ultra Limited. My indy mechanic told me to go to the HD dealer and pick up the bars and needed cables. The parts and accessories catalog shows that I need to get new brake lines as well as the longer clutch cable. My search here seems to show that everyone has gone with the longer clutch cable but not the brake lines. Anybody find that they also needed the brake lines or did everybody make do with the stock brake lines?

Thanks

Don't need either cable....The clutch cable can be rerouted either outside or inside of the fairing. A slight turn on the banjo bolt on the brake line puts it in the correct position.

OK Thanks, that sounds good to me. I'll just picked up the bars this afternoon.

My mechanic tried it without the brake lines, but there just wasn't enough length in the stock set so he ended up having to order new ones. The lower part is the most expensive. The bright side is that the replacement brake lines and clutch cable are braided stainless.

on my 09 all that was needed was the clutch cable; the brake lines were fine from the factory.

I just finished the install of the 2" pullback touring bars today. I did it myself, not a big deal. New clutch cable installed. Didn't even have to drain the transmission. At the suggestion of someone here (can't recall who) I just leaned the bike slightly over to the left side and did not loose too much fluid when installing the clutch cable. What a difference! Very comfortable with the new police solo seat as well. I'm going to top off the tranny with some Syn 3 I have left over from the last oil change on my Road king. I have about 600 miles until the 1K first service.

Thanks to everyone who offered advise on this project.

Yeah, can someone post some pics with them on the bike. I am reaching too far forward with the stock ones. My arms are almost straight or I have to lean forward some. Pretty uncomfortable on long rides.

I have these on my '09 Ultra Classic EG, love them! Very comfy on long rides, no shoulder or wrist pain of any sort. I had to replace the clutch cable and the brake cable I believe. This was the very 1st mod I had done to my bike when I bought it last year. I had a dealer do it. They look great on the bike.
