compresion testers
Sears sells a good one; don't know who the manufacturer is. Regardless of where you buy, the guage is where the money is. Scrimp on the price and you scrimp on the quality of the guage and you will get inaccurate readlings that may cause you to take action that is completely uneccessary, or, false readings may mask a real and developing problem. So, if you need to spend $50-$100 to get a good one, spend it. I can site several instances where a cheesey guage and false readings led the owner to make decisions that were not warranted.
They are not expensive and are easy to use. Get one with different sizes of threaded adapters.
Avoid the ones with a rubber tip that you press against the hole. It isn't easy for one guy to hold it and crank the motor.
