Yup, off comes the exhaust. No way to reach those bottom bolts. You will probably leave some blood on your bike, lol. Oh, and for your problem - check where the clutch cable screws into the tranny - might have popped the nipple off the end of the cable somehow: that part is weak as hell.
Oh, and fair warning. Do NOT misread your manual when re-installing. All those bolts and cables on the tranny are in INCH pounds, not FOOT pounds (that's hooker tight vs girlfriend tight for the uneducated). Oh and that's also a $100 mistake if you tighten to ft/lbs - trust me, I know...
Good luck!
Jon, thanks for that tidbit. Will keep it in mind.
Update: Tore it apart and found nothing wrong. Put it back together and it's working and adjusting as designed. Go Figure. One plus, I know what's in there now. Only cost me about thirty bucks and about 7 hours of labor. Could probably cut that down considerably now. Cheap cost for experience. That's the other plus side of twisting your own wrenches. Thanks Dawg and all others for their phucking input, Dawg. LOL

LOL. Well, mine only cost me $0.53 for the new bolt. Not to be confused with the cost of a new screw if the GF finds out as Dawg mentioned. New bolts are a lot less costly than new screws!
