To the point.
None of the items mentioned tune.
They confuse the ECM to provide the desired fuel ratios by altering the data it receives.
The only true tuners are the new Power Vision and having Harley flash the ECM.
These two actually change the ECM settings.
I know I'll be getting a lot of grief for these statements, but tell me where I am wrong.
Since you asked....
The Powervision, the SERT/SEPST, and the TTS all reprogram the ECM. The Thundermax replaces the excellent Delphi ECM with a technologically inferior one.
TTS designed the SERT, and only the TTS offers the .mt8 maps to really unlock the power of the ECM. The Powervision is interesting in that it offers a display and records without a laptop, but it lacks the functionality of the TTS. There is simply not a more powerful tuner available for Harleys than the TTS Mastertune.
TTS for flexibility and functionality. I am NOT a fan of micro-fuelers (add-on boxes) of any sort. That said, you really do need to actually understand what you're looking at, know what it is that you want to do, and why . . . . to get the most out of a TTS system. However, just following the instructions that come with the TTS will get you a better tune than a micro-fueler will. If you only run the bike at idle and wide open it probably doesn't matter, and will not show up on a dyno run . . . but I'd guess that most street ridden bikes spend the biggest part of their lives between idle and 30% throttle, with only the occasional excursion into the 80% - 100% throttle range. Even if every acceleration you do is at WOT, it's probably only 1% or 2% of the total life of the engine.
I stand corrected.
I'm not too small to not acknowledge when I'm wrong.
Had a nice converstaion with Vicki from TTS.
They manufactured the SERT for Harley previously, so Master Tune must be Okay.
Good responses. Very close results so far. I'm sold on the TTS based on some of the things I've learned here but the Power Vision is probably what I'll buy because of the display and not needing to carry a laptop on the bike.
Thundermax here also. Had the pc3, pcV with AT, and TTS Mastertune. For once I installed something that I don't have to ride around with a laptop for weeks on end for VE's, EGR trims, and spark knock. With the TM, I installed it, accepted some tuning by the sensors and it's the best running bike system I have ever used.

So with the Thundermax do I need download a map for my add-ons or will it self adjust? I've only ever used the PC 3 for my quad. Lots of work to get it performing properly. Thanks
