Glide Pro's mount alignment procedure makes a big difference in vibration translated to the chassis. It will prpbably help with the OEM mount as well. shaker's quoted 2k mirror ghosting vibration is in a 2007 w/ 6 speed, 2k could be considered lugging with the 6 speed, and that usually causes more vibrarion. The odd firing Twin Cam will always have vibrations, you're never going to completely eliminate it, but you could geatly reduce it by balancing the flywheel, and individual cylininder tuning. There is no magical motor mount available at this time.
Just a guess here, so forgive me...would changing only ONE motor mount screw things up as the other rubber mounted areas are worn to a degree and one is brand new? Would this cause a sympathetic vibration?
I think there is some truth to that. I had a torn front mount on my 99 FLHRCI and replaced it with an aftermarket OEM replacement. Very bad vibrations. Only rode it a few times like that and winter set in. Over the winter I swapped the rear swingarm with a 07 swingarm and replaced the rear isolators. This spring i found it still vibrates but not nearly as bad. My original rear isolators were pretty worn too.
I installed the glide pro mount first and it was so bad I went to the 79-B. I also installed the new version glide pro rear swingarm kit. I'm sure some of my vibration is from the rear kit. I have about 350 miles on the rears and hope over time it will settle down. I just wish I could get it back to where it was before. The bike difinately handles better with the new swingarm kit and Jake is great to work with. I wish I were on the west coast so I could take it to him and get the results im looking for. Scratching my head for new ideas at this point.
I had the same experience with my '05 EGC when I changed the motor mount. Felt more vibrations. As said you went from a worn/soft/spongy old mount to a new firm one, so it feels very obvious to you at this time. It will settle in eventually, but it takes awhile.
I also forgot to mention that the vibration gets worse as the bike gets up to full temp. Whats up with that? It's normal cold but when hot the vibes are much more than before the changes.
You might try loosening all of your mounts...With the mounts loose crank the engine and let it idle for a couple of minutes...Shut the engine off and re tighten all of the mounts.
I have the same, vibration in seat fairing vibration is bad and luggage rack shakes do bad i am reinstalling old motor mount, it was missing a nut on the long bolt
[QUOTE=flhtupser;8390325]Again the vibration gets worse when the bike gets hot. When hot I get more vibes in the seat and the bars. Anyone have this going on?[/QUOTE
I habe the same thung, fairing shakes bad luggage rack shakes so bad i feel vibrstions in the seat, the long bolt thru the motormount had no nut so actually the mount was good ,, so i am reinstalling the old mount and going to leave some slack and double nut the bolt ,,
I’ve tried the Alloy Art on my ‘07 Street Glide as did my friend on his 2004 Road Glide at the same time....vibrations were unbearable on both! Windshield and fairing shook like crazy! Wanted to mention that the ‘04 RG has a build darkhorse S&S 106, so crank is spot on. We tried all sorts of aligning....in the end he put his old one back on.
i bought the glide pro and made things better, but not as good as I thought it would....felt better with stock one. 2,200-about 3,000 seems to be the worst.
