My thanks to all those who served ahead of me....those who served with me...and those who have served after me.
It is nice to see now that they are getting, at least for the most part, the respect and honor they deserve. When I was in, I can remember being cursed at, spit at (they found out that was a very big mistake), and in general treated at about the same level as pond scum. Thank God that has turned around.
I would like to thank all of you back. Without great people, a great nation is not worth defending.
I would also like to thank those who served before me. You set the standard for me to follow and gave me great pride in joining your ranks.
Finally I would like to thank the families of those who have lost a loved one in the service of this great nation. You have paid the ultimate sacrifice and I salute you!
I am retired USN and my wife spent 8 years in the Navy. Then she decided to get out and raise our children. God Bless her. Our son is in the Army and spent a year in Iraq. He came back Ok, I guess. But three of his "battle buddies" lost their lives over there.
Every year my wife and I spend time going through Jefferson Barracks National Cemetary to pay our respects to all of the brave souls buried there. Someday, if there is still room, I'll be buried there as well. I even ride through several times a year on the way home from work.
This year we decided to do something different. We noticed an overwhelming number of "UNKNOWN US SOLDIER" graves. So we decided to place flowers and a US Flag on one each time we go. We pick a different Unknown grave each time. They gave their lives in service to our country and "are known only to God."
Not sure if it make a difference to anyone else or not. But it sure makes me feel good knowing that whomever they may have been, they are not forgotten and are still in our prayers.
My thanks to all those who served ahead of me....those who served with me...and those are currently serving and to those will served in the future. Thank You for your honorable service!

Being a 26 year vet, I thank you. Being a Patriot Guard Rider, I thank you for those who are gone. All veterans gave some, Some gave all. God Bless the families of those gone home and God Bless America.
