Default Front Brake question

My '05 Ultra Classic has developed an odd problem with the front brake lever after sitting overnight. When I first get on the bike the brake lever can be be pulled back all the way back where it touches the grip. I checked the fluid level and it is OK. It does not change if I try to 'pump' the lever multiple times, However, if I just ride for about three or four minutes and then try it again, the travel is OK going to the middle of the range.

The brake pad material appears to be about the thickess of the backing plate, say around 1/8 inch or .125.

Has anyone seen this sort of issue before? I was wondering if it could it be the front brake master cylinder? Caliper?

I would pull the Calipers and clean the pistons and if the Pads are even close to looking like changing do them as well while got them tore down ...

I agree with all the above with the addition of flushing the fluid with getting some new fluid in there may give better results. Being an 05 if you haven't flushed with new you are overdue.
