...there were some solid leaks about the 2012 models! I know that's wishful thinking - and it's only another month or so before they release the info - BUT - I'm over here in Afghanistan (civilian contractor) and am already paying on a 2012 Street Glide with the "Power Pack" and am dying to know exactly what I'm getting!
The big suspense for me is - will they make 103's standard and if so, will my Power Pack be a 110?
I'm more or less just typin out loud here...in good company...cuz I have way to much time on my hands that are spent day dreaming about my return to the states and being united with my new bike! <sigh>

Just a wild guess but I wouldn't hold to much hope on the 103 becoming the standard engine in 2012. Not while people are willing to pay an upcharge for it from a 96. To much revenue coming in for them to put the 96 on the shelf right now. Maybe a few years and who knows...maybe the 103 as standard, the 110 as an upgrade and the 120 in the eagles...but I think the 120 was just released late last year or early this year and they probably want to see how it performs for a year or two before making that sort of move. As I said...a wild guess.
I hope that was a light hearted attempt at humor. I'm busting my *** out here. And when I'm not working - I have no where to go & nothing to do. I live and work in a 1 square mile zone that I cannot leave because of threats & attacks. I'm driven to & from work - just 2 blocks from where I sleep - in armored vehicles. Not permitted to walk even that short a distance - nor would I even want to. Yeah, I volunteered to be here - and the pay is good - but it's not "why" I'm here. I and the team I work with earn every penny of OUR tax dollars that are spent out here. If you saw what an average day is like, you'd realize every single person is grossly underpaid.
Sorry for being defensive - but after hearing the names of the 170+ service members & civilians from my unit who have been killed out here read off during our Memorial Day ceremony, that remark hit a nerve. I apologize if you were just trying to be funny.
My dealer just told me yesterday that he will have a 2012 FLHX in less than 2 weeks. He wasn't supposed to get any until mid July, but a dealer memo supposidly came out stating that for the first time ever they were shipping some bikes long before the dealer show.
I am not the expert here, just passing along what I was told.
My brother is a staff engineer at H-D and they're really tight-lipped about changes for the upcoming model year. He let me in on the MY2012 colors back in March and lets little things slip here-and-there, like there's a legacy bike getting a ground-up redesign for 2012 and a brand-new Softail model coming in 2013. If that tells you anything, you're welcome.
