Can one of you guys with the fork air deflector post a picture? I'm curious what that thing looks like installed on a bike. I haven't searched the web for it yet, but I'd love to see pics from guys on here with one.
Seems like it would be really fugly. (I know, function over form.)
103,
I've got the stock 12" from my bike that was taken off at the dealer before delivery if you want to give it a try. I'll ship it to you for $60. PM me if you're interested.
I'm 6'1" and have the KW 8.5 on my SG. I can ride with my hat on up to about 50mph but after that I have to turn the bill around backwards and can leave it on unless there are stiff cross winds. My light weight sunglasses don't shake either. I also really like the down force from the KW which increases stability at higher speeds and around semis. I think you have to judge a windshield on calm riding days because no windshield works very good on real windy days with constanly shifting wind patterns.
Two worst things on a street glide Seat and Wind shield. Both are for style and looks zero function.
Bingo...stock w/s & seat upgrade were on top of my to do list after getting my 09 FLHX. Went w/Klock Werks 8.5" & MCC double mem foam seat mod & it's much better w/comfort & buffeting. I'm 5'11" w/34" inseam so you'll be a tad different, but doesn't take much to beat stock. Good luck!
i tried the klockwerks 6.5 i think and it blasted me right in the forhead.went back to the stock.i am willing to sell for what i paid which is 60.00 plus shipping.less than half price.if u want to try it.good luck.
I think many here are starting realize the SG is not a tourer, just an around town "cool factor" bike. The bike requires too many changes to make it a cross country bike. By the time you put on all the crap to tame the wind and harsh ride, you should have bought an Ultra Classic, it will look like one after you make all the changes anyway. And yes, I owned one. JMO

It's a compromise, like anything. It's a helluva lot more of a tourer than many other "cool factor" bikes! If you think putting a $150 into a replacement windshield is a lot to make it a cross country bike, I would have to disagree. I never thought the ride was that harsh on mine, and the seat worked just fine, too.
