I know this has been beat to death, but hey, I just bought my first can of Lemon Pledge for the bike yesterday.
Question...as I DO NOT want to scratch my windshield or fairing. I would imagine that one would rinse the big stuff off gently with soapy water and then use the Pledge for final cleaning and polishing. Correct?
I can't imagine just spraying the **** on there dry, then start wiping. Makes me cringe thinking about it.
Soak a microfiber or soft cotton towel in hot water and lay it across the shield to remove bugs. Hydrogen peroxide works too, just spray it on and let them soak for 5-10 minutes.
Use pledge for the final shine, not to remove dirt.
Honestly wont hurt anything....Always be careful just to give you peace of mind..If the bike is dirty give it a bath!! Once grime is off then hit it with pledge,I always spray on bike then wipe with soft cloth.Awesome on Vivid Black.
Rode with a guy who has a YamaHaHa this weekend. Two days into the trip he points out that he has some grime on his pipes...Looked liked a few seagull's had used his pipes as a target....Anyway what ever it was it was BAKED On!!! That night at camp i pulled out my Pledge and told him to give his pipes a good coating (Cold pipes!! :-) Well need less to say the Crap came right off!!!
Also i DO use it on my windshield/fairing...Spray on heavy to loosen the bugs,Then follow with fine spray to clean-up!!..Works great!!
I use Pledge as a "Detailer" only, not a cleaner/bug removal agent... i use a clean microfiber cloth and spray the cloth, not the bike, then wipe down........ Works for me..............................................hd man

Go Pledge....
I do this often...... From time to time I will do the wet towel first but never had a problem doing the heavy coat followed by a light mist. Buff with a dry microfiber cloth and looks great!
