A friend of mine has samson fishtails straight pipes on his RK. They are the most obnoxious things I have ever heard. I make him ride behind me or I get a headache within the first 15 minutes. I kick myself in the **** because I was the one who helped him get them!
A few years ago, I posted a question on a forum about the straight fishtails and this was one of the responses I got:

I'm sure for anyone stupid enough to run these, just a bullet in the head would'nt make you stop or even slow down, but I'd still give you one round!
My best friend has unbaffled Samson fishtails on his carbureted evo Heritage Springer. It's a great sounding bike. His bike is louder than my 103 with Rinehart TDs. I enjoy riding behind him, I think that's a pure Harley sound, and it looks great.
Well, all I can say is every person that has heard my pipes say my pipes sound like what a Harley is supposed to sound like. I love'm. Everyone has their opinions. Which in the end, doesn't really matter what others think, its what you think.
I've got Vance&Hines 3" on mine.I've had the baffles out and they sounded great but one 5 day trip convinced me to put em back in.Too quiet,so i started cutting the baffle down. Now I'm at about a 1/3 of the original length.
Looking for some fishtails for my 03 RKC. What are the best fishtail slipons out there? Currently have Rush slipons and stage 1. I am looking for moderately loud about like what I have now or a little louder.
Thanks
I have a pair of Screamin' Eagle Street Performance Slip-On Mufflers that I had put on my '09 Road Glide. They are late model mufflers. They gave a deep rumble and were louder than stock. I wanted to change to Shark Fin tips. I could not get the fishtails off. So I found some mufflers that didn't have tips. Here is a picture of my RG with the Fishtail Mufflers. Make an offer?
I looked into this for my Road King. I wanted the harley tails. The fish tails that harley currently sells will only fit the 4" SE mufflers. The 3.5" tails are no longer available. I have the 3.5" mufflers and just decided to keep the tips I have.
I settled on the V&H 3" w/standard baffle. Love 'em. Loud enough and not annoying. l also have the quiet baffles but haven't used them yet. My second choice was Supertrapp SE (rocket tail) 3 1/2"'. Those are really quiet.
