Fishtails: Samson M-119 vs. V&H fishtails slip-ons
I recently purchased a 2002 Road King Classic that the original owner had put on a set of Screaming Eagle slip-ons which don't sound too bad, but they're not very loud. I really like the looks of fishtails on RKC's, so I am thinking either a set of Samson M-119's or V&H fishtail slip-ons. Wondering if anyone has experience with both and can direct me to which set would be louder and deeper. I am looking for a nice deep rumble that is loud enough to be heard.
thanks for the help.
Oh yeah... I am running stock headers, SE (with K&N) air cleaner, and stage I download.
Samson's are the way to go in my opinion. I prefer the look of the fishtail and the sound. I run the baffleless version and it sounds wicked. they are loud and deep. There is nothing wrong with V&H, but I much prefer the Samson's. My buddy who had the V&H fishtails ended up getting Samson's after seeing and hearing mine.
Here are my fishtails on my softail
I sell Samson's at a great discount every day as well.
For sound only, I would go Samson, I went with V&H 3" FishTail IIs due to the fact they come with awesome full coverage (lengthwise) 220 degree beautiful chrome heat shields and I do prefer the look of the V&H endcaps... I do love the sound with Rush Ceramic coated true duals!! and u can remove the baffles and I bet u would be very happy with the volume
I would go with the Samson pipes. However, if you want loud, you should go with the straight pipe slip-on instead of the M-119, which are mufflers. I had the M-119 on my Road King, but switched them out for the straight pipe 36" Long Tails.

Can you elaborate on "for sound only." Do the V&H offer anything that's better than the Samson. From what I've seen the m-119's have a full heat-sheild (I could be completely wrong). Do the V&H perform better? Basically I want deep and fairly loud... I have heard rumor that the V&H's aren't very deep or loud (again I could be completely wrong). The problem is that I haven't been able to track down a bike with either sets to hear in person.
