Many times we only post the negatives on dealerships or MOCO. I wanted to be different. Here I was traveling back to Texas from a 10 vacation in Florida. Stopped in a HD shop in Baton Rouge to get the T-shirt. Left the dealership about 20 miles from town check engine light and electrical light come on and the voltage dropped to under 10. So I turn around and go back to the dealership. Service says that they are extreemely busy but would try to work me in. After about four hours they have the bike fixed, it was the stator. They also informed me that the front wheel bearings are bad and need to be replaced. There was no way that they could do this service for me, since it was late Saturday afternoon. But they did let they warranty department know what was wrong and that I would be taking care of it upon my return home. This way I would not have to pay the deductable twice. They also offered my wife and I pizza and drink while we were waiting.
I told them that I appreciated everything that they did and trying to save me a few dollars as well. And was told that they treated everyone the way that they would like to be treated. So if you are ever around Harley Davidson of Baton Rouge check them out.
We were on a trip a couple years ago and my buddies oil pressure gauge started leaking oil. We rode on into Nashville and stopped at Boswells. Talked to the service guy and he said go ahead and pull it in. It was a easy fix but when he went to pay they said don't worry about it have a safe trip.
Ate sone good food in the diner they have inside the dealer and hit the road again.
Not all dealers are bad. You do run into a good one now and then. I too was on a trip last year and lost my kick stand spring...went to the nearest dealership and they replaced it (service portion) for free. I did have to pay for the spring...but felt it was nice for them to not charge for service. We had just rode thru 3 thunderstorms to get there and this was a highlight of the day.
It is good to hear good news on a dealership. I really enjoy the people at my local dealer. They treat my wife and I great every time we are there. You hear so many complaints, a few atta-boys are a good balance.
Another one is the guys in the service dept at Smith Brothers H-D in Johnson City, Tn. I had my bearings pulled and tires taken off the rims to be powdercoated. Came back a couple of weeks later, they put new bearing in, mounted/aired, and balanced my wheels. I asked the service manager what the total damage was. He said don't worry about, just buy my guys lunch. NO PROBLEM!
