Thank you all for the input. Ready to pull the trigger on this mod, but there was something nagging me about it that I couldn't remember. I tried for hours to find it but could not. I think it had something to do with the electrical system on the '11 bike that was adversely affected by the Xied.
They are very easy to install. Color coded connectors that plug into your existing wiring under a side cover. Just plug and play as they say. They also come with an instruction sheet that willguide you through the install.
I have the Vieds and have been happy with them. They helped some with the heat but didn't solve it totally. They are great for what they are and the price.
The ECM on some bikes have a poor quality ground wire and the XiEDs will not work with them, that is a fluke, mostly they work well. Sometimes they throw a false code, nothing to worry about since it is false. They helped my bike all the way around. I did 55mph all day one day and got 50 mpg. The performance was greatly increased, very noticeable. The AFR goes from 14.7 to 13.8. some people say they can't see how changing the AFR will improve performance, how can it not? That is exactly what tuners do, they change the AFR, but they do it by individual cells or blocks, the XiEDs do it across the board. I had one of those bad grounds so I had to stop using them and the dealer will not replace the ECM, so I went to the PCV which, for me, was crap. Now I have the TTS and they are great. If I had it all to do over again, I would go with the Xieds first, if you make mods beyond what they can handle then upgrade to a tuner otherwise get the XiEDs. You get a lot for the buck, even though they are simply wires with connectors on each end and a resistor in the middle, they work well.
Here is my story, and perhaps I'm just lucky. My 2010 Limited gas mileage totally stock averaged around 40 mpg. I gutted the cat, which reduced heat dramatically and perhaps performance improved very slightly. Mileage stayed the same as stock. Next I installed a stage 1 air filter, no perceived performance or mileage improvement. I next installed CVO 4" mufflers with Fullsac 1.75 free flow cores. The bike sounded great, but again, performance and mileage remained the same. I just installed a pair of Steve's Xied's, and bingo! This motor is now much more responsive, seat of the pants feeling of much more torque. I don't have to down shift as often in the hills of PA, and I can remain comfortably in 6th gear for a greater period of time. Heat is definitely lower now with the Xied, and I notice the bike does not go into parade mode as often or as long. Best of all, after putting over 1k miles on the Xied's in the last two weeks, mileage has drastically increased. The lowest I've gotten, two up, is 45 mpg and the best I've averaged is 49 mpg riding myself. I am totally sold on these things and can heartily recommend them for those not planning on taking their bikes beyond stage 1. Best performance bang for the buck on the planet.

Bingo: jjnoble you hit the nail on the head. Now for the million dollar question. Is there a way to tell if I have the good ground or the bad ground? I would hate to just take it on faith only to find out that I killed the ECM.

Super nice guy and very happy to help me out, even though I explained I had bought mine here from a HDF member and was getting ready to install themm he walked me thru, step by step and next time the bike is sitting still and I have 10 or 15 minutes, I will get them on.

Steve Mullen at Niterider.com can explain better than I can about grounding. I know the FL-XIED'S I bought for mine and my wifes 2010 SG Trike has a ground wire for both front and rear sensors. I've had them a year now and never got a code. I ran my grounds to the neg. terminal of the battery. I had a couple of conversations with Steve when I decided to remove my stock header with the cat and go 2into1 with Fuelmoto Powertube Muffler. Very close to a D&D Fatcat performance wise. He said the FL-XIED'S should handle it, but see how it runs and check my plugs. It runs fine! Plugs look good! No pinging! I'm more than pleased with them.
