I heard some really great things about the Vance and Hines Big Shot Duals and got some...but I had NO idea they were this great!! This is truly what a bike of this caliber (2003 Road King Ann. Edition) should sound like! If anyone is considering these DO IT! I might even have to get some quiet baffles as when I open up a little I get ringing in my ears...the weird thing is it's not an obnoxious loud it's a harley loud...the way it's supposed to be if you ask me!
Thanks to everyone for all your help with the pre-installation q's!
I agree with you 100%. I put those on the 2001 Road King I used to have and can't tell you how many fellow bikers commented on them. The sleek/simple look and the unique sound are pretty impressive.
As long as they keep makin'em, I'll keep buying them. I plan on putting them on my new Street Glide when I get it
2 tips I don't know were mentioned in your previous threads/posts - but:
1. If you aren't using the screaming eagle gaskets, consider'em. I ended up using those instead of the regular ones after about 2-3 weeks (segway to item #2)
2. Be sure to check/tighten the tightness up at the exhaust manifold; I believe "most" brands/pipes will work loose after initial use; I know mine did. Using better quality gaskets helps maintain a better seal.
Yeah man! I can't get enough of the sound of these! I did get the SE gaskets as they were CHEAPER than the non SE ones...? Couldn't believe it! I'll have to check the tightness some time next week.
Just ordered some Vance & Hines True Power Duals for my 2010 Road King FLHR from
Eastern Performance Cycles on Ebay. Going with the twin slash round slip ons and the fuel pak. I was going to go with the Big Shot Duals but I like the look of the true power dual setup.
Hmmm, can't say as I've heard those. I heard some V&H slash cut ones though and thought that they sounded a little tinny, maybe it was just me though.
Kinda pissed right now, as my 3.5 rineharts barely been on 1.5 years have developed rust spots on the right muffler. Don't mean to hijack your thread, and I do like the monster ovals too. So either I'll be lookin' for another single slipon or get another set.
Kinda like the looks of the BUB Straight 8 Slip-on Mufflers, but as I recall Bub used to make the pipes for Rinehart and I would have to see if their(Bub) process is any different than it was when they were making Rineharts. Anyone know?
Here is how the Bub's look though..I like the way they look.
El Rey,
That's what I'm talkin' about! I Just can't dig the fishtails...someone pulled those apart and it looked almost baffled a little...can't dig it....
What kind of bars do you have? Those are pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. I wanna go beach bar and they look really good...
