Thank you folks. I love my spokes. One of the reasons for buying the Classic. I like the way they sparkle in the sun. Their general look. For me, spokes are part of a motorcycle. Back when I started riding spokes are what you had. Oh yes, there were solid rims. But for me, I had spokes. They have been on bikes a long time. They do the job. I have put a lot of miles on spoked rims without a thought as to how to maintain them. But now I am a real motorcycle owner. A Harley Davidson owner. (Yes, this FLHRC is my first Harley.) So now I am giving it some thought.
The more modern rims are less maintanence. You don't need a tube. But I like my spokes.
Agreed I love spokes. BTW, thanks for starting this post and thanks to the helpful information form others, its perfect timing as I was about to have a look at mine as service is due.
Insuring that the spokes of a "laced" wheel are tight and properly adjusted is part of every scheduled maintenance, RTM. My dealer does it for each bike that comes in for service and does it when you have a tire replaced. I watched as they did my RKC last year. Won't go into details but when I did my regular maintenance I checked them w/ my torque wrench, (yes Virginia, they do makes one for spokes of a laced wheel) and they were all good. Saw a rear hub that all but disintegrated due to loose spokes,much longer and the consequences may have been severe.
Vet767, I like your photo of you, your bike, and your lady. You look like a rider that would have bugs on his teeth when he smiled. And I love the color of the bike. I have, recently, found a distributer of the leather for the handle bar ends. I plan on picking up a set for my bike.

Anyone know where a spoke torque wrench maybe found, I have looked before but come up empty.
tap on each spoke with a wrench if you hear a dull thud - tighten
Its that simple. Don't need to over analyze or need to get anti-anxiety medication. I used to do my spokes on the Softail I had when I did my service intervals. Always found one or 2 spokes that had a dull sound to them so I tightened them slowly till they had a ring. Didn't need a truing stand or expensive specialty tools. I did buy a proper spoke wrench so I didn't tear up the spoke nuts.
