I may just need to chalk it up to a hard day's riding and the lean tuning on the factory bike. Of course, any time you do a 500 mile day in 100* street-level temps and mountainous conditions the engine deserves to be tired!

I put one on my 2011 FLTRX 103 & have been in 95 degree temps with no problems.

The lean factory tune will do it. Mine would cook me until I got it tuned to reduce the heat.

I have that as well as the lower fork deflectors on both our Ultra's. Great wind management and no heat issues!

I installed a baffle about a week ago. Probably rode about 100 miles or so since in 90+ temps and haven't noticed any pinging. I also didn't really notice a significant reduction in wind either. Probably because I am running a 6.5" Klock Werks shield. Wish I had bought the 8.5" instead. Lessons learned the windy way I guess....

at least you know your cylinder head engine temp sensor is working correctly....as the heads gets hot...the mixture goes leaner. I put a 3/16th lock washer on m sensor to pull the sensor tip away from the heads. There's an air gap now between the sensor tip and the heads. If you have a stage 1, you can pull your egg intake cover so that the cover cup effect does not suck in engine heated air.
