Electra Glide Classic Timing
My 99 EGC Twin Cam 88 has been running poorly since the dealer replaced the cam bearings. I guess the 99 had a recall on those bearings, but that was before I owned it, and the recall had run out.
In any event, it runs as though the spark is retarded, a flat, hollow sound when crusing, along with some light popping noise. It really reminds me of the '47 Indian Chief running with the spark retarded. When I'm accelerating, it's fine - lots of power and the right sound. The dealer said its fine, but not so - it didn't do that before the service work.
Is there a possiblity that the timing is off because of the bearing replacement? How do I fx it? I'm pretty 'old school' and don't know much about mapping, etc.
Another thing that bothers me about it is that my son just bought an 03 Heritage Softtail - same engine except he has carbs, and it has five times the quick response as mine. No hesitation, it just goes!
Hope somebody can point me in the right direction. Thanx.
