I have searched and searched and came to the conclusion that soft lowers can be used in almost any temperature. Does ANYONE know of an engine that failed due to using soft lowers above 50 degrees? I just can't see it happening.
The reason I ask this is because I am on the verge of buying a set for a road trip this weekend with the temps expected to be in the 70's but raining. I would like a little bit of protection on my legs.
I have a set and it's hard to imagine that they'd be a problem with rain and the temps in the 70's. I don't think I'd use them when it get hot, like 85 to 90.

That's what I was kinda thinking. How do they affect your comfort level?
i think it says in the listing for those not to use in warm weather,
Yeah but my thinking is they put that on there for liability issues, ya know? I'm kinda thinking that the engine will get plenty of airflow at highway speeds regardless of heat. Cruising around town at 30 mph doesn't really get much airflow to the engine either.
I have a set, had them on when I left because it was cold. It warmed up into the 70's, and my bike started stalling. I took them off, and no more stalls. my oil temp gauge was not showing excessive heat though. May have been another issue. but I don't run them if it's above 50 now.

That's interesting that the oil temp gauge wasn't reading high. Like you said, must have been another problem but still makes me think....
I took my lower fairings off my limited and it makes a big difference in this alabama heat. I like the smooth ride with them, but they will not go back on until it cools down some.
And maybe it is just me, but the bike seems cooler when I have to stop
