Default riser bushings

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but it seems to me that FSM doesn't have any instruction on replacing these. Besides the PITA of having to remove the faring does anyone know of anything important I should keep in mind? Or is it pretty straightforward? And what do I torque that **** at?

No experience replacing them yet, but I will this winter.

From the 2010 Service Manual:

Handlebar lower clamp bolts (risers) 30-40 ft-lbs.

It's in Chapter 2 in the touring models service manual.

You didn't specify but I hope you are replacing them with urethane bushings, if so retorque them 3-4 times allowing a few miutes rest in between so the material has a chance to settle.

I replaced mine with urethane ones when I put the 12" bars on, no instructions necessary, it's just a couple bolts, spacers, washers and ground straps. Tighten them till they're tight.

Torque spec? We don't need no stinkin' torque spec!

"tight's tight..........too tight's broke"

I was curious on the urethane bushings. What's the benefit? I thought they might transfer more vibration than the stock mounts?

If you have a buddy lift up and hold the handlebars for you, the old bushings can be removed and new bushings installed w/o removing the inner fairing or radio. I did mine a year or so ago this way.
