Well I have been wondering about adding the throttle pak to my ride and was lucky enough to get to borrow one for the weekend to test. To set this up, I did not have any complaints about the throttle response of the 120 or really have any reason to think I had "throttle lag" but after reading a couple reviews on here and other places I thought that if its this good like it is, maybe the Throttle Pak would still make it respond quicker. Long story short, I talked to my tech that tuned the bike and he said it wouldnt make a difference since he already had removed lag above 2500 rpm and most of it below that. He said he left some lag in below 2500 and does on most bikes so they dont fall on their face when you jump on it. But, he said lets plug it in and see for yourself. Well, he was right. I played around this weekend with it on and didnt notice any difference and today just for fun I went out and found a deserted back road and did some various roll ons, standing starts, flat out banged through some gears with the pak and then unplugged it and did the same routine. I can honestly say that I did not notice any difference. Now I'm not saying that it doesnt do what V&H says, I'm just saying that with the SESPT and a good tuner who removes the lag when he tunes it, this would not be money well spent. As far as I know, only the SESPT and the TTS can tune out lag so maybe someone running a different tuner would benifit from the Throttle Pak.
Interesting. I've been considering this for my 2009 EGC. As soon as I went from the Low Rider to the EGC, I noticed the infamous lag.
I was speaking to a H-D mechanic about this the other day, and he said that the Throttlepak is "all in your head". Now, personally, I can't see this - either it is or it isn't a mechanical upgrade, but who am I to argue with a mechanic.
I say I'd try it for free if given the opportunity, but I know I've also wasted money on more trivial things. Not sure what to do - some say it works, others say it's a waste of money.
I've read a lot of good reviews regarding the TP, but those were on bikes that were either not tuned or running a different tuner like a power commander. If you are experiencing the lag, I say go for it based on other reviews. I only wanted to share my experience so others that have not experienced the lag or have a SESPT or TTS would not be disappointed with the purchase
