Anyone have pictures of good location to drill hole in Ultra lower fairing for the ipod cable? I want to keep ipod iin lower fairing. Read a couple other posts but without picture, hard to follow.
Also, will the "strain relief" used for saddlebag mount also work for drilled hole in lower fairing? If not, any other nice options to seal hole and hold wiring?
Go to Hogtunes website and check-out the installation instructions for their fairing lower speaker kit. The instructions will explain where and how to drill the hole to run speaker wires; presumably, your ipod cable is similiar enough to use the same or similar procedure and location.

Just a heads up...if you do this, make sure you put your iPod in something waterproof, unless you have the upgraded doors on your lowers. I trashed an iPod because water got i there while riding through a storm. The guy at Apple told me tu use a plastic bag with a silica pack thrown in, and to use a rubber band around the cable to seal it from the connector. This is what prompted me to go ahead and buy the saddlebag kit, which I like a whole lot better than I expected. I too believed I would prefer it in my fairing lower, but I was wrong in the end, and out an extra $200.

Thanks, I have the lower fairing liners and I "think" I can velcrow the ipod to the top of the compartment liner where it should stay dry... at least I hope so... I am trying to determine the best place for ipod wires going into lowers as I understand they are fragile to bending. I may try the same location as hogtunes mentions.
