IIRC, we took pictures of each participant with the witness, along with witness name, addy, and phone number at start and finish location. And wrote mileage down on gas receipts as we went along; the receipts went in the zip lock bag which held a couple of spare pens.

PS: "Insurance cards" refers to your state's ins. card, as well as the Canadian non-resident insurance card?
Harleypingman: I have both my regular insurance card and the Canadian card. I advised my friends to do the same, but I'm not sure if they did or not....You can lead a horse to water....... Everyone that didn't have a Passport did get their North American travel card.

I always take a jacket, hoodie, rain suit with me for wet and cold weather when I do these iron butt rides. Then again I only have a small bag on the back of my bike I strap on.
Tomorrow some friends and I are leaving for Toledo, Ohio where we will leave early Saturday morning on a SaddleSore 1000. There will be three H-D's and one Triumph. Here is what I plan on taking with me:
