Default Draggin Baggers Question!!!

Installed my draggin baggers. Love the look, but must admit the ride is super harsh at lower alttitude. It feels like a hardtail which I am not totally against. The problem is I cant tell if I am bottoming out and hitting the fender or the shocks are just bottoming out. I dont want to hit the fender because the wiring harness runs along inside the right side of the rear fender. I already tore up one harness with the so-lo lowering kit. Any suggestions on how I can make this determination?

D175, I'm planning to install the solow kit soon. How did you tear up the wiring harness? I think the solow only drops the rear end 1". Haven't heard of anyone having this problem before.

DI, if you hit the fender with the tire you will hear a high pitched rubbin sound like a harsh "swiiissh"...you'll only hear it for a brief sec as it rebounds back...mine does not hit with no air, youre probly bottomin the shocks...it is harsh at the lower settings, i usually run it with lots of air so's it rides good

Ditto on tearing up the harness with the SO LOW Kit. Just to be on the safer side, I relocated the harness to the side inside the fender. I also pump it up when riding. I slam it whenever I park and before riding I get her to lift and do a quick 2 lifts and I'm gone. The more I ride the better i'm getting with getting the right riding position. When I'm cruising around slow a bike event and want to look C-O-O-L.. I bump her down 2. I rode 2 up the other day and used the same method with both passengers on the bike and had no issues. Although I hear the air guages are not really worth it, I think it would give you another reference point. I'm still debating that and hopefully there is a guage out there that will read the lower air pressures.

I am short and ride 99% of the time completely lowered I only add air if I am on a long ride. We've checked over and over for issues, so far there are none. I ride an 03 Road King (Queen) Hope this helps.

Rubbing creates a sound and bottoming out creates a jolt (bump). I just installed my system too and have to agree that with a little riding you will find your sweet spot. I have found that for just around town, I can have it lowered about half way but on the highway it feels as smooth as glass jacked up.
By the way DI I have been meaning to tell you ,,, I love your bike! It is BAD AZZ just the way a DI's should be. SEMPER FI

exactly!!!

another thing is if you have a lift that lifts the bike by the centeryou can raise the bike and spin the wheel. You can see if there is any resistance.

on my SG, completely bottomed is not rubbing anywhere. I checked over and over.

Installed mine last week and yesterday was the first time riding with them two up and the wife loves the new ride. Only took a couple of adjustments to fine the sweet spot, this is one of the best invenstments I have made to the bike.
