3-4 years is kind of the norm or expected , the 6-7 years is just kind of lucky but happens just like 1-2 years

Batteries

1994 - wife and I are separate bikes (both 92's) on the way from Washington to Sturgis. 100 degrees once we left Washington. Pulled into Sheridan, Wyoming for the night on day #2 and my battery had bit the dust. Replaced it that evening. Next morning my wife's battery was also kaput. Push starting a cold bike was fun. Convinced to this day that the heat killed them both.

Too many issues to really give a lifespan, heat, vibration, over charged ,undercharged, how much use. all affects the battery life, and once in a while they just go bad ,even newer one , if it isn't a recuring problem on the bike I woudn't worry bout getting one with a short life, the next one may last 6 years.
