Default A real puzzle

I changed out a simple OEM horn on my 04 ultra. The puzzle is that I have obviously blew a fuse or relay? I have no digital speedometer, no turn signals, no radio audio( radio turns on and changes channels). All headlights work. I have no found the problem after tearing it down. Any suggestions?

Assuming your wiring is the same as my 2003, there does appear to be a fuse that may affect things as you mention although I would suspect that you should also have lost your rear brake and high beam. Specifically it is the accy switch which is a 15 amp one. According to my book it is identified as P on the output side and R on the input side although I am not sure what theat physically means. Again, if the 2003 is the same it appears to be on the bottom row of the left hand fuse box in the centre. Hope this helps

Thnx. I checked the fuse, pulled and viewed it. It test as good. I haven't check my rear brake because I haven't had it on the road. I will check my high beam. I never thought these "symptoms" could all be from the same little 15 amp fuse. Hope I find it soon. Gotta a 9 day road trip planned.

Could this possibly involve security system armed? If so how do you disarm it without code?

I suppose it could be the security system but I would have thought hat it would not fire up if that was the case. A dumb thought but it might be worth disconnecting the battery completely then reconnecting. It might just re-set the "something" that is causing the problems. By the way, does the horn work?

Nope. The wiring has no connectivity. Ohm meter shows it to be dead lead. I disconnected the positive terminal but left the negative alone. I guess I will give it a try(both terminals)
This has me scratching my head.

According to the manual the horn is polarity insensitive with one side going directly to ground. The book says disconnect the yellow/black wire at the horn, connect the positive lead of a voltmeter to the wiring harness (presumably the yellow/black) and the negative side of the voltmeter to ground. Turn ignition switch on and press horn switch. You should see battery voltage. if not horn switch or wiring is faulty - back to that fuse
The diagram does show that the same power feed for the horn on the left handlebar goes to the high low beam switch so if that doesn't work it is back to the fuse again, which is what the other symptoms suggest. If the high low works then co-incidentally you may have screwed the horn switch (What is the draw on the new horn?) . Most interesting - I can say that because it is not happening to me.

Just re-read the diagram, the O/W wire from the fuse appears to go to the cruise control resume, the brake switch and the rt turn signal on the rt hand controls. So if the rt turn signal works that would confirm that power is getting through from the acc fuse circuit. you have got be intrigued.

Fuses are cheap. Trot on down to the local auto parts store and pick up a supply of 15 amp fuses. Swap out all the 15 amp fuses in your fuse panel. I "fixed" an electrical problem with similar symptoms that way and now I have plenty of spare fuses in case I run into the issue again. I'm going to guess that you might have inadvertantly established a ground fault when you either took out the old horn or while installing the new one. Do you remember seeing a spark? Hopefully the fuse did its job before any of the other components were damaged.
