ORIGINAL: TexasRedneck

She's all of 5' tall (an' 105 lbs), so the bag crash bars were givin' the back of her calves fits.
I don't think height really matters on this problem. We had an EG Classic years ago and my wife (5'8") had that same problem and complained about it all the time.

We did get a set of the Kuryakyn retractable passenger pegs that were mentioned earlier. THose are great for giving them options for foot position but they do not reasolve the problem ~ and I would occassionally end up with the toe of her boot jamming into the back of my leg, usually when stopping. We had those on two bikes. Fortunately (for me), she did not want them on this one!

HD has a much better fix for the rear crash bar issue. I think they call it a comfort bar (or somehting like that). It has a different bend and totally gets the top part of the bar out of the way.

What an interesting thread with various opinions. I solved my problem and feel very comfortable with it. I kept my '02 Goldwing when I bought my '06 UltraClassic. I'm glad I did because I love both of them for different reasons. Each has it's own attributes. I owned an '88 Goldwing and a '90 Ultra together for a number of years. I wound up selling the '88 Goldwing and just rode the '90 Ultra for several years. Then I sold the '90 Ultra and nobody wanted to sell me a new UC without major concessions on my part, $$$$$$. To me it was just like going to the Ford or Chevrolet dealer and saying, "Here, let me give you $$KK more than the MSRP." I love HD but not that much. Stupid.... So I bought an '02 Goldwing brand new. It is a fantastic motorcycle in practically all respects. Of course I have a friend who is as good a wrench as can be found. Truth is, once you get Harley in your blood, at least for me, there's no getting it out. From the very day I let my '90 Ultra go I missed owning a Harley. I missed the looks, the sound, the camaraderie of other HD owners and I missed being part of the family. I did have the wherewithall to become a lifetime member of H.O.G. so I suppose I never really got away for HD. Bottom line is, as I may have said here before, there are many bikes that are manufactured but there is only one true motorcycle and that is Harley-Davidson. I'll bet I catch a lot of flack for that.

Oh, btw, all of us know what today is. Give thanks for our men and women in uniform today regardless of your position on the war or our President. Remember, our country called and they went to do their duty. I retired with 24 years of active service and I give all the reverence and respect to our soldiers which they so rightly deserve. YOU should also. God bless the USA! ! !
