okkat, that is one fine scooter. I wouldn't be thinking of getting rid of it if I were you, just ride it. That thing has only averaged 3,000 miles per year.

Keep it and ride the crap out of it. 02 is the best year IMHO. I wouldn't let it go ever. I would start by cleaning up all the stuff that is wrong with it first and then continue as you wish with any mods. I have seen some of the older twin cams run over 200k with just regular service and maybe a belt here and there.

Keep it. Spend the money on tools and bling. Start small and learn to work on it yourself. Get the manual, makes an interesting read. If the family is watching something stupid on TV, I get out the manual and learn something. If I have to go somewhere boring with them, I take the manual and learn something.

Keep it and ride it, I can guarantee that you will regret trading a great bike in on a new one after the new smell is gone. To replace that Classic you are looking at 20g's out the door and you still have to spend thousands more to get it running cool enough to ride and to make it yours, IE seat, bars and such.

You could take the money and make yours a real Road Beast if you wanted with a 95 or 103 kit and there are several 6 speed kits that will take care of that if you crave a six speed. Your bike has ridiculously low miles to be 10 years old and has at least another 75 k left in it before even thinking about any thing major. Enjoy your ride!

Nick; I think you answered your own question...02 RK's are sweet rides. If owning two bikes isn't one of your goals then I say keep the 02, buy a service manual, read/save up & start personalizing the bike. From your sig pic it doesn't look like you need much...nice scoot!

Thanks for the feedback, I really had no idea what kind of miles a bike would go. So I am going to stick with her, add on and ride her until she won't go anymore. Again, thanks for the feedback.

Okkat...my Road King Classic is almost a twin of yours...a 2002 with 34k miles on it and I have this bike to the point that I would really regret ever getting rid of it. One day at the dealer someone recognized it as a 2002 and offered more than I paid for it. To be honest, I thought the guy was a nut case for making the offer but I was probably crazier for not jumping on the deal. The unvarnished truth is that three years later I know that I would have regretted if I had. I see you only have 48 posts. You probably haven't seen the 'sticky' at the top of page 1, Touring Section that was set up by Road King Classic owners. Drop in there and take a look at what some of your friends are doing with their RKC's.

Keep your bike.
