Default New Dunlop E3's

First off, just a quick thanks to this forum and all the members who share their experiences and opinions. I just got back from a 60 mile ride with the new tires. What a difference in lean angle. And the tar snakes....what tar snakes. I took the wheels off myself and save some coin. Had an Indy mount and balance them. Bought the tires at Rocky Mountain ATV for $262 delivered. I went with the 160 rear, as the factory tire used on 07's was a 140. No clearance problems. I should have ordered the tubes at the same time but didnt think of it. Had to buy one at the dealer.....twice the price, but was glad they had it. For those that are contemplating removing their own but think it might be more than they bargained for, don't worry. I had never had my back tire off, so wasnt sure what to expect....it was way easier than I expected, which is a first for me. Usually I lose a part or something breaks. Not this time. I had to remove the right side slip on and part of the the left side bag support to get the axle out. Took about 3 hours because I took my time. Can't wait to put some miles on them. But around the Phx area, you try and finish your ride before 8am while it's still under 100. Thanks again to everyone who contributes. What a great thing we have here.

Not very impressed with E3's when you want to make a extremely tight turn and at slowest speed possible compare to stock 402 and really bad when compare to Pirelli Night Dragons.Long life but that's not the only thing to consider when buying performance tire.

I've been runnung the E-3's for a while, I'm on my 3rd rear and getting around 12-14k on the rears far better than the 7500 I was getting on the 402. I have to disagree with the post regarding the slow speed and tight turns I have not had a problem in that area. I was thinking about trying the radial tire, has anyone had any experience with them, and I assume you would need to change both front and rear so you are not running a bias and radial at the same time.Any input

I'm I the only one with clearance problems with the 160?
I rub every time I hit a good size bump. I've had the bike up on the lift twice trying to determine where it's rubbing without any luck. I'm going to remove the 160 and go back to the MU90HB16.

the 160 is recomended for a 3.5 inch wheel not our 3 inch wheel, i suspect your pulling in the side wall and making the tire taller, check the top of your fender and your wires to the taillight turn signals.hopefully u havent rubbed them through.

I am totally impressed with the Dunlop E3s I put on my '08 SG. The bike rides and tracks SO MUCH BETTER than it ever did before. Now road variations don't seem to effect the bike like they did with factory tires. As for the low speed handling, my bike handles great! I too want to thank those who took the time to share their experiences about these tires as without that input I may have never tried them.

I put a E3 on the rear (MU90HB16) about 1500 miles ago and so far I'm impressed. Big improvement on tar snakes, road seams, etc. over the stock D402. I'm still running the original D402 on the front but will replace it when I replace the rear again, probably next year. Even with the D402 on front it still made a big difference in handling.
Considering it's cheaper than the stock D402 and (supposedly) lasts longer, IMO it's a better deal all around.

Glad you like 'em... The negative post ^^^ is the only one I've seen like this. Probably just personal preference, I guess. I've been running E3's for about 39k miles -- 2nd front and 3d rear in the time and no issues -- other than some feathering on the sides of the tread at the end of life on the tires. Ride quality, control, comfort, etc...all beyond what I had with the OEM Dunnies. Wouldn't go back...
