Just finished the install of my new fairing. Bought it from reckless. Was worried, but I feel pretty great about my purchase now. The ol king does make it wobble a little just above idle, I just hope this doesnt cause any cracks in the fiberglass. Here is the breakdown.
Reckless fairing w/ marine housing and shipping - $445
Paint and supplies - $240 (Damn pearl & metal flake)
Paint labor - $200
Sony MEX-BT3800U - $100 new off ebay
Fairing antenna - $20
Kenwood 3 way speakers 6.5in - $45
Trailer wiring harness - $15
Misc - $65
I havent been up to 60mph+ yet, but I can tell you this, you can actually feel the stereo when sitting on the bike. Its a super nice stereo, and the bluetooth might be the coolest technology that Ive seen in a while!
I like it. Very nice! I can assure you that the more you ride with the fairing, the more used to it you'll get and you won't notice the extra weight. I have a Dead Center fairing and I never take it off.
Looks nice. I've seen some cheap aftermarket fairings on RK's that were downright fugly and had me walking away saying "WTF were you thinking when you nailed that POS onto an otherwise beautiful bike...?"
Looks great.
I've been looking at the Reckless also.
Where did you bring the power in? From the acc switch?
I've been told some will plug into the acc switch.
Looks good.
I love the ability of the RK to strip it down and keep the clean lines. Without being to conceded my bike is beautiful stripped down. The more you put on the more you loose those lines.
Doc O - I used a trailer harness, Neg and Pos to battery.,.. then on my year bike, on the left side harness, there is a red/white wire that is Acc power, so when you turn the Ign to Acc, or to Ignition the radio stays on. Because of the headlight Naccell(SP?) there is no hidden way to wire it in, I will take a picture of the location where of what I did and post it here in a few for you.
