Red face 2011 touring 103 value

Back in January I bought my 2011 Street Glide with the 103 power pak. Now that the 2012's are announced with the 103 stock and a 2012 Street Glide will be less than $20k, I guess my bike is already tanked for value. I don't think the 2012 will have the ABS or security system like mine, but still.

Before anyone flames me on this, the ONLY reason I'm thinking about this is that I'm having some med issues which might take me off the bike. This is my first HD and I LOVE it! I sold my Ducati because med issues meant I could no longer take the brutal riding position of the Duc. Get this, my surgeon recommended a HD as a way to keep riding! Anyway, more issues have popped up and I might be off the bike for a while now. If the value is tanked cause of the 2012's I'll just let it sit in the garage and have my buddies ride it from time to time. Hopefully things won't be as bad in a few days and I can keep riding. We'll see. Anyway, that's why I'm thinking about value, so please don't flame me.

Anyway, I wanted to know what others thought of the 2011's value with 103 kits now that the 2012's have the 103 also.

A built 103 will out run the dog puke out of the stock 103s. Built is my preference. I want to buy a 2002 to 2006 touring model and build it to a 103. It will be just as good as a new bike and out perform the new bikes every day.

If I were you I would enjoy my bike.

I did not address the value ...... I am sure it will go down. You messed with the motor and many people do not want a motor that is not stock so they can mess with it. Everyone wants the newest and the unknowledgeable people will think O WOW 103 run fast zoom. Your built 103 if you put a cam in it will out perform the new ones.

I have been saying .... HD holds its value better but not like the old days. You trade every year then you loose your butt. Best to buy it and keep it.

The value should be the same. You bought yours with the powerpak, which includes ABS,and security. If you have a 2012 and add security and ABS,the difference in price is what $200 or so. I wouldn't worry,if you didn't have the 103 in your bike, then yeah your reasale value might go down a little.

Dealer offered me $11,000 for my 2009 Road Glide on a trade for a 2012. I'm going down to the county jail first and see if there are any other thieves that might bid higher.

The dealer tried to steal mine also so I built the motor like I wanted. I rather have mine now than a new one.

Hardly. The frames pre-'09 are significantly inferior.

Basically what you have done is lost $300.00 Ive done the math and thats the difference I just bought the same bike back in may MSRP on the ABS/Security is 1200 so add the extra 500 for the 2012=$300.00

The simple answer is that you haven't lost anymore than anything would going from last years model to this years model and as stated earlier in this thread if you had the 96 motor you may see a decent hit b/c the power plant is a bigger better version but you have it so that's actually a win!

The harder answer is anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it so your 103 doesn't make it worth more because it's a 103 over a newer year b/c now everyone gets a 103
