For those who have an accident and major bike repairs have you had any additional problems from the repairs.
When I say major work I am talking about frame replacement, disassembly, reassembly of the bike.
I went down in April and the bike is still being repaired. It should be ready next week. It is a 2008 Ultra. It has totaled 12,000 in repairs so far. Most damge was on the left side to where I laid it down instead of slamming into the side of an 18 year old girl's car who ran a red light.
Pretty much everything but the motor an tranny are being replaced and I am concerned about potential problems after being fixed.
I have an extra 1,000 to do upgrades and now I an debating whether to do some upgrades or pocketing the money and replace this bike with a newer one.
The only major upgrade was when I bought the bike new I upgraded to a Headquaters 103. Initially I was glad they were able to salvage that now I kinda wish it was totaled out.
Any info good or bad after a rebuild would be appreciated
I've built 3 bikes from totals, 2 Deuce's and a Heritage. All of them were torn down to the bare frame and built back up. They were all friends of mine and rode many trouble free miles.
Major to minor, I 've had good and bad experiences with aftermarket and factory replacement parts and accessories, fitment issues, and compatability issues with different combinations of add ons. To me, how well or poorly a particular modification works out is all part of the personal experience of transforming my factory cookie cutter bike to a mechanical representation of my own interpretation of the perfect motorcycle for me. My bike is a part of me, I will never sell my bike, but I may buy another one someday.

Wrecked my streeat glide in May. Harley dealer is repairing 10k of damage.
I want them to certify that the frame is straight, they say they wont. They just check it by riding it . If it tracks then it is good. You guys know if there is any other way of checking the frame.
I did almost $10k in damage to my Ultra, I've put 20,000 miles on it since. No problems at all.
A good mechanic that pays attention and takes his time can build it better than new.
