I would like to clarify something. I do not think that a HD is a death trap and I do not think that anybody else on this forum believes that or they would not be riding HD. But what is true is the fact that HD, Honda, Kawasaki, Victory, etc.... will all design bikes based on many things including but not limited to, COST! I am a fanatic when it comes to things I am passionate about. I love motorcycles and I love to ride and work on them. As a result, I am always open to improvement as are most folks on this forum. Regardless of the type rider you are, you can learn alot from discussions like this one.
Well put! I bought my Glide new in 1990. It is my hobby, a project in perpetual development which I doubt I will ever finish. I have other bikes, but this one is just fine and I spend on it rather than replace it. I also enjoy spanking later Harleys and other brands!
This is the season for overtime,i split it half in time, half in cash.Hopefully by the end of Feb,i'll get the CCE kit and some shocks from Howard.I love the ride on my RK,but i miss the handling of my FXD.............
I guess that HD came up with a new, never thought of idea and put them in their new 2014's baggers. 49mm fork tubes and a clamping top triple tree. Who would have ever imagined this concept? Clicky for story
Took'em long enough Howard! I don't know of any other brand that used their old 'top hat' top tree system. The British brands that used a top hat bolt also used a tapered seat, so the fork tube was pulled into deep locking engagement. It's good to see that the factory are listening.....

Just another reason to believe the CCE triple trees should be a good upgrade....
