Default Can I replace just the header pipe?

I have an 11 FLHTK and love it like it is except for the heat. I want to change out the header pipe to FuelMoto Ceramic 2/1/2 but do I have to change anything else? My only concern is reducing the heat. Can I use my stock mufflers and A/C? Will I still have to have a tuner?

Thanks

That won't really help the heat problem. The heat comes from the EPA. The new harleys are leaned out and need to be richened up to cool them down a bit.

Check out nightrider.com to better understand and to find a cheep solution

Go to tuneyourharley.com and read the info. They have a map of the stock ECM and explain how it works in closed and open loop. If you plan to just change the header, you don't need to buy a tuner.

You can change the header only and be fine from a tuning perspective. You will get rid of that hot hot cat converter plus the ceramic coating will tend to hold-in some heat as well.

But if you are going to the trouble of a header change, u might want to think this through a little. The header changeout is probably the most difficult and/or aggravating part of a performance improvememt. Why not spend a bit more and go with a new higher volume air cleaner, a tuner of some kind, and possibly some new wideband oxy sensors. You can keep your stock muffs. Nothing wrong with them. Jamie at Fuel Moto, a strong forum supporter, would be a smart phone call for u to make for no other reason than to discuss options.

FWIW, I changed to ceramic X pipe and an appropriate remap from fullsac. Left the stock CVO mufflers. Very little if any heat on my right leg. Of course when it's hot outside, you'll feel the engine heat beneath you. What did happen is that the wife now complains of heat on her right boot. Didn't before the headpipe swap. Took the lowers off ( ambient temps have been in the 90's to 100's) and this helped a lot. I suspect that when I change out the CVO muffler cores to the 2.0 fullsac cores, that last choke point for the heat may very well be markedly improved. A friend still has his '11 CVO stock and complained about his right leg burning up on our last trip.He can't wait to make the switch too.

The stock map on the newer bikes are lean. You can eliminate a lot of the heat just my getting a remap.
