Default I need some help here.

Sorry for the long post. Ive got a friends bike in my shop that I installed a new set of Andrews 48H cams in today (bike is and 07 UC). I installed the cams and new inner bearings and all went well. I also bought a PCV with Autotune from Fuel Moto with a map already installed that Jamie put in. The friends bike already had a true dual Rinehart setup that he did not like because hes short legged and he said the left side pipe has burned him pretty badly more than once so I installed a new Rinehart 2-1 to get the exhaust down and away from him. While removing the true duals, the left side pipe had a bracket the mounted using the starter bolts. While removing the bracket, I inadvertantly arced the copper starter bolt and it sparked pretty good. I finished installing the cams and exhaust and decided I would fire it up before installing the PVC and autotune. Now I have power to everything and I hear the fuel pump priming but the starter wont spin. I quickly checked the fuses before I quit for the day but didnt see any burnt ones and I wondering if it could be the starter relay? Anybody got any ideas on what to check?

Edit: I do not have the O2 sensors plugged in. I put the new wide bands for the Autotune in the exhaust but I have not plugged them in yet. I didnt think it would matter but I thought this may not let it crank since the O2 harness is not plugged in.

Check to see if you are getting power from the start button down to the starter. Since ground might be good to the bike doesn't mean that it is to the starter. If you have power there & it still does not crank, try it again using a bolt on the starter as a ground, if it has a bad ground it should show up there, if it still has power try tapping the starter with the button pressed in. If that all fails, try a starter. But arcing out the main battery feed to the starter normally won't hurt the starter, not saying it can't just saying that I have seen a lot of battery cables that go to the starter arc out & never hurt the starter. Good luck

Toby

I would pull the starter fuse and check it on an ohm meter. It should be close to 0.

I dont believe the O2 sensors would keep it from starting. Did you forget something simple? Is the ECM plug, plugged back in? Did you pull the tank?

I did not pull the tank or unplug the ECM. I'll check the starter fuse as suggested.

When you hit the button does the starter click as is throws out? Or nothing happens when you hit the button?

Could your battery be dead?

Did you check the battery terminals are tight?

You can run a wire from the bolt you accidently shorted out to the solenoid - this should cause the starter to kick in.

Obvious one - is the bike in neutral? Pull the clutch in and see if she cranks?

Thanks for the suggestions. When I hit the starter button, there is no click or anything. Absolutley nothing...

Battery has a good charge.

I'll check the terminals again but the seem good.

I'll try to jup the starter to eliminate that it could be the problem.

Bike is in neutral.

I hate electrical problems!

definately try it with a good battery even jump it from a car, also double check all your wiring and do a jiggle test with the cables.

Could Also be the STATER Relay, not the starter.
