I tried replacing my front blown turn signal on my 2011 limited with an 1157...it would stay lit, but would not blink when I pushed the blinker switch....I installed a 2057 and it now works fine...I'm assuming it would be an 2056 for the rear. YMMV
I think the Limited would use 1156 bulbs like the older ones since it has the tail light in the middle.
I know for sure the 2010 Street Glides have 1157 bulbs because I just changed mine to LED's a couple of weeks ago.
The actual bulb that Harley uses is a 198 for the SG without rear brake light in the middle. It's a different candle power then the 1157.
The base is the same.
That explains a lot. Thanks. As much as I would like the look of the smoked lenses on my silver Street glide, I think its probably best to leave this alone!
I put the Custom Dynamics LED's in the rear of my '10 SG with red lenses and they are way brighter than stock. They also work fine without a load equalizer. One of my buddies was riding behind about a dozen of us in bright sunlight and he told me he could easily tell where I was by the taillights, another one thought my brake lights were on until I actually hit the brakes.

Yes, I discovered that you are 100% correct. You can place an 1157 bulb in place of the stock clear 198 but the intensity of the brake and running in the 1157 is much less. A cross referenced bulb with the same candlepower as the one Harley is a 2357LL. This does not address a part number for a red bulb of the same rating and intensity however. That's probably why the LED's seem brighter than the red bulbs people are using when they change lenses to the smoked variety. They are going from a higher intensity bulb to the lower intensity 1157. I have not yet found a red higher intensity bulb to match the brightness of the 198 or the 2357LL.
57's on mine... Problem at times with intensity is brand as well. There are crappy red 57's that have a coating on them making them almost orange. Then there are better ones that don't use that thick crappy orangish coating. I will have to look at the brand i get because i can't remember for the life of me which ones they are. Had them both and the crappy ones are much duller and almost orange colored.

I'll have to try an 1156 in the rear turn sig, the harley ones are twice the price...Hopefully I'll get more than a few rides before the next one blows, LOL!
I tried an 1157LL in my 2011 Limited (front turn signal)...no go, it just stayed lit (would not blink)....went to the 2057LL and it worked fine. When I went in for my 1000 mile service they told me bulbs were covered under the warranty, so they replaced it with the harley one (198?). Only difference that I could tell was the Harley bulbs were $3.95 for one, the 2057's were $3.99 for two (at Pep-Boys)....
